On October 5th, the OCU (Spanish Consumers’ Organization) published an article clarifying the required gas boiler inspections.

How often are they necessary?

It is important to have a complete inspection every 5 years, for both natural gas and piped gas installations, as well as for butane installations. This inspection verifies the operation and leak-tightness of the meter, pipes, valves, hoses, and overall condition.

Since 2007, with the Thermal Installations Regulation (RITE), an annual inspection is also required for boilers.

This annual inspection will analyze the energy efficiency and gas emissions of the heating and cooling equipment.

Who pays for these inspections?

The cost of these inspections, carried out by the distribution company (Gas Natural, Endesa, etc.), must be paid by the customer, who is responsible for ensuring that their installations are in good working order.

The price of these inspections ranges from €35 to €70, depending on the region. This amount is usually included in your next bill.
