Three things determine the installation: the gas supply (there must be an accessible gas valve near the installation point), the flue outlet (all current models are sealed flue and require an external outlet, which in most replacements means making a new hole in the wall), and an electrical supply if the XN model is chosen. Installation is quoted separately and includes the gas connection, flue outlet and, where applicable, the electrical connection. Is a sealed flue unit now mandatory?<\/h3>\n

Yes, following the update to the Regulation on Thermal Installations in Buildings (RITE). New models cannot draw combustion air from inside the property \u2014 they must have a direct external outlet via a coaxial pipe. This is why almost all installations now require a new hole in the exterior wall.<\/p>\n

Can I replace my Strachenova with a Kromschroeder?<\/h3>\n

Yes, it is the recommended direct replacement. Kromschroeder is the successor to Strachenova and the Echo models are its natural evolution. The only consideration is that the flue outlet will likely not align with the old unit’s opening, so the hole will need to be adapted or a new one made. What is the difference between the Echo XC and Echo XN?<\/h3>\n

The Echo XC has no fan and requires no electrical supply \u2014 it heats by natural convection. The Echo XN has a tangential fan that distributes heat more evenly around the space and allows hourly and weekly programming, but requires an electrical connection. For spaces without a nearby power socket, the XC is the solution.<\/p>\n

Does a gas wall heater also provide hot water?<\/h3>\n

No. A gas wall heater is exclusively for space heating. It does not produce domestic hot water. If you also need hot water, the solution is a separate water heater or, if you want to combine heating and DHW, a mural boiler.<\/p>\n
