JAG Alcaide: experts in flat and office renovations.
A full renovation has a classic problem: too many different trades to coordinate. The plumber waits for the builder, the electrician waits for the plumber, and in the meantime the project overruns while the owner acts as traffic controller between five different companies who have never worked together.
At JAG Alcaide we coordinate the entire project with a single team. As well as managing the building, joinery, painting and flooring trades, we have our own in-house technical team for all installations: plumbing, electrics, heating, hot water and air conditioning. We do not subcontract installations — they are carried out by the same team that has been working in Barcelona for over 70 years. That shows in the timescales, in the quality of the finishes, and in having one single point of contact responsible for everything.
One of the main areas of activity of our company is the complete renovation of both homes and offices in Barcelona. We develop the project from the initial design phase, where we propose interior design solutions adapted to the needs and requirements of the customer. We understand the importance of carrying out complete renovations, that’s why we listen carefully to the customer’s ideas and objectives and adapt to them. Once we know your requirements, we try to translate them into the project and propose the best solutions, drawing on the experience that precedes us.

The advantage of having installations in-house
In a full renovation, the installations are the bottleneck. They determine when the builder can close up walls, when the painter can come in and when the property can be handed over. When installations are handled by an external company that also has other projects running, delays are inevitable.
JAG Alcaide has its own in-house technical team for all flat installations. That means we control the project schedule, that if something needs to be moved forward or adjusted we do it without depending on a third party, and that when the project is handed over all installations are documented and legalised by the same team that carried them out.
We work on residential and commercial properties across Barcelona. We have specific experience with the building conditions common in the city: low ceiling heights in the Eixample, facade restrictions in listed buildings in the Gòtic, pre-installed conduit in new developments in the 22@, and strict residents’ association rules in Gràcia and Sant Gervasi.
Frequently asked questions about full renovations in Barcelona
How much does a full renovation cost in Barcelona?
The price depends on the scope, the condition of the property and the materials chosen. As a rough guide, a complete renovation of an 80 m² flat in Barcelona including building works, plumbing, electrics and heating typically ranges from €40,000 to €80,000. A detailed quote requires a preliminary visit to assess the current condition and works needed. JAG Alcaide carries out the visit and quote with no obligation.
How long does a full renovation take?
A full renovation of an 80–100 m² flat typically takes between 8 and 16 weeks, depending on the scope of works and whether there are any structural changes. The most common cause of delays in renovation projects is waiting between trades — by having installations in-house, we control that directly.
Do I need an architect or surveyor?
It depends on the type of work. Renovations that do not affect the building’s structure do not require an architect’s project in Barcelona. If there are structural changes or changes of use, one is required. JAG Alcaide assesses at the preliminary visit whether your renovation requires a technical project and advises on the necessary procedures.
Do you handle council permits?
Yes. We manage the minor works licences required for most full renovations in Barcelona. For works requiring a major works licence or technical project, we coordinate with the client’s architect or surveyor, or recommend trusted professionals.
Do you also work on office and commercial renovations?
Yes. We carry out full renovations for private homes, offices and commercial premises. In commercial spaces we have experience with specific installations including centralised air conditioning, three-phase electrics and accessibility compliance works.
Can you carry out a partial renovation, for example just the bathroom or kitchen?
Yes. Although our speciality is the full renovation, we also carry out partial bathroom, kitchen or installation-specific renovations. If the scope is primarily installations — plumbing, electrics, heating — that is exactly our core area of expertise.
